USA Adventures

I've wanted to make a document of my recent trip to the USA for a while so I thought why not do it on my blog!

Let's get started. On the 12th of December 2013 myself along with my parents took off on our long awaited holiday to the USA meeting the other family(my cousins + aunty & uncle) that were travelling with us on the way on a connecting flight from Auckland. From there we boarded a 12 hour flight to San Francisco.

We finally arrived in San Francisco. My first thoughts were that it was very hilly(we are not used to hills where I live) but boy is this city beautiful! I love the vibe, the people and the shopping and would definitely love to visit again. Other attractions we visited included Alcatraz, Pier 39 and the Fisherman's wharf area, the California Academy of Sciences and the Golden Gate Bridge. After 4 days our short visit to SF had come to an end and we were headed off to VEGAS!

I have to admit Las Vegas was a lot to take in and wasn't quite sure about it but as time went on I enjoyed my time more. It is definitely a place for adults but there are still lots of other things to enjoy such as the various different shows(I watched KA by Circ Du Soleil and Jersey Boys), exploring the many different and HUGE hotels and of course more shopping. On the second day I also had a very early wake up call as I was taking a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon. The weather on that morning was perfect and the Grand Canyon was spectacular sight that you must see! Our next stop was the one I was most excited for, NYC!

I was super excited to go to New York City as I had been counting down the days for months and had always dreamed of going. I have to note here that there was a crazy awesome view of Manhattan from the plane. Our first glimpse of the craziness that is New York was Times Square, it was absolutely packed!I have been to other densely populated cities but nothing compared to Times Square (and also the Rockerfeller Centre). Some attractions we saw here included; the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, the Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as many more. Here we also celebrated Christmas away from home for the first time and so we attended an NBA game and went Ice Skating at Central Park. We spent a total of 9 nights in New York before we caught to train to our last leg of the journey in Washington DC where we stayed for a short 2 nights and visited all of the famous monuments and a couple of the Smithsonian museums.

Overall the trip was so much fun and I got to see so many things that I had dreamed of seeing still at a young age. I'm so thankful for my parents for allowing me to go and I will definitely be going back in the future. Hope you like the pictures I took as well!
